Housekeeper in Mission, British Columbia

I live in Mission. My husband and I moved out here from Maple Ridge years ago to raise our children looking for a smaller community type feeling. While they were attending elementary school I started out taking a noon hour supervising job at their school which lead into a after-school program as well as a few other programs. This was very rewarding for me working with the children. But as time went on and my children grew older I knew it was time to make a change. I also knew that I needed to stay in a profession that enabled me to work with people and make a difference to their lives so I decided to work with retired residents. That is what I have been doing for the past four years. I work in a kitchen at a retired residence facility serving breakfast and lunch in a dining room that accommodates 120 people. The part that I enjoy the most about this job is going to the residents rooms delivering room service when they are not doing so well. I love the warm feeling they get when you have time to sit with them in their homes. I look around and notice the things that need to be done and would love to be able to stay and help them. Home is definitely where the heart is. It is important to me that I make a difference and can help in someones life but at the same time I am a very hard worker and have a passion for things to be the way they should be, which is clean, organized and comfortable.
