Housekeeper Job in Santa Clara, California

We are busy apartment dwellers who simply don't have enough hours in the day for everything that needs to get done. With my husband often away on business and me having a full time career and night classes, things have a tendency to fall through the cracks. We are looking for a regular, long-term housekeeper/home helper (not a robot maid) who can help us when things start to fall behind. We want someone trustworthy and regular, so that they can learn how we like our home arranged and will respect our belongings. We want someone thoughtful and intelligent, and understands that what specifically needs to be done on one visit my fluctuate from what needs to be done on another visit. For example, perhaps I haven't had the time to do the dishes this week--please help with that. Or perhaps this week there are no dishes, but I didn't have time to fold the laundry--please help with that. Maybe I haven't had the chance to dust, or maybe I just have a huge stack of mail that needs to be put in the mailbox. Essentially, someone trustworthy who understands home upkeep well enough to look around and say, "Yep, that over there needs cleaning" even if it didn't need cleaning the previous visit and without having to be specifically told so. Ideally, we'd trust our housekeeper enough to give them a key, and they'd be self-sufficient enough to understand what needs to be done without us having to constantly direct them--they could come at a time convenient for them regardless of *our* schedule, and use their best judgement in helping us out with any chores that have gotten away from us. Also, we need someone who is pet (cat) friendly. We have three cats, and pet care are some of the things we may need help with from time to time. One of the cats is quite elderly and on hospice care, and has difficulty using the litterbox. As such, we need someone understanding and sympathetic who isn't afraid to mop a puddle now and again. Some duties that may (or may not) be needed on each visit include: - Dusting - Vacuuming - Dishes - General counter/kitchen cleaning - Taking out trash and/or recycling - Scooping litter boxes - Mopping - Sweeping - Throwing out used puppy pads (elderly cat uses them in lieu of litterbox) - Mopping up urine or feces should the elderly cat miss the mark - General de-cluttering (tossing out trash, putting books back on shelves, etc.) - General bathroom cleaning (scrub toilet or tub if needed, etc.) - Anything else that may (or may not) come up Again, this is not a list of things that need to be done EVERY time, but a list of things that might need to be done at any given time.
