(6-8 seasonal positions available May- August) Custodians are responsible for maintaining campus facilities in a clean, orderly, and safe manner for the use and enjoyment of the University community. Duties include, but are not limited to, heavy duty cleaning, daily maintenance of all residential and academic buildings, managing trash and recycling, as well as maintaining appropriate inventory of cleaning and restroom supplies. Additional assignments may be given as needed by the Facilities Superintendent or the Manager of Operations. The nature of these positions relies heavily on the individuals ability to follow all given directions and work on a team or as an individual. There are three periods of the summer beginning with preparing facilities for student arrivals. During the duration of the active program, there are both day and evening shifts available. After the students departure, there will be a period to close down facilities. QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrate understanding of the role and responsibilities to the campus and being responsive to Boston Universitys concerns and needs for cleanliness and safety. Solid communication skills are essential. Must be in good physical condition and able to perform all duties. Prior experience with custodial operations and equipment a plus. Appearance must be professional, neat, and adhere to uniform requirements. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Ability to successfully pass a background check. The position is enjoyable but demanding in terms of the required time and energy a successful candidate must commit. Compensation includes competitive hourly pay. The period of employment for Cleaning Services is from approximately late May through late August. After the students arrive on June 21, full-time staff members will receive two days off each week.
